Bektemir is a district located in the southeastern part of Tashkent, the capital city of Uzbekistan. Historical Background
The name "Bektemir" originates from the Bektemir canal that flows through the area. Between 1960 and 1973, it was part of the Sredne-Chirchik district of the Tashkent region. From 1973 to 1990, it was a city, and in 1981, it was named in honor of the statesman and public figure Narimon Narimonov (1870–1925). It was established as a district on February 27, 1990.
